TRIPOD—A Treadmill Walking Dataset with IMU, Pressure-Distribution and Photoelectric Data for Gait Analysis

Inertial measurement units (IMUs) enable easy to operate and low-cost data recording for gait analysis. When combined with treadmill walking, a large number of steps can be collected in controlled environment without the need dedicated analysis laboratory. In order evaluate existing novel IMU-based algorithms reference dataset that includes IMU as well reliable ground truth measurements multiple participants walking speeds is needed. This article provides consisting 15 healthy young adults who walked on at three different speeds. Data were acquired using seven IMUs placed lower body, two systems (Zebris FDMT-HQ OptoGait), RGB cameras. Additionally, validate an algorithm dataset, adaptable modular pipeline was built. Our results show agreement between pressure-sensitive Zebris photoelectric OptoGait system (r = 0.99), demonstrating quality our data.
